Dirty, tired and noisy, hated every minute of our stay, shower was too cold or so hot you couldn’t use it.

We were greeted with a very homophonic attitude the moment we walked into the reception, the man on reception insisted that he moved us to another room as we could not sleep in the same bed, he could of done this quietly with no fuss and we would of been fine about the situation.

5 days at this lovely family owned Haveli in a fabulous location, walkable to everything in Old City, on the “quieter” side of Lake Pichola, 2 minute walk to foot bridge to other side. Amazing views, lovely heritage rooms in a beautiful Haveli. Food and service excellent & with a smile. Massage cheap but so-so. Some WiFi spottiness, but better on lower floors. Typical in India, so not really complaining. Great stay for great price! Highly recommend.

After doing some research we had shortlisted Karohi Haveli mainly coz we wanted to stay close to Lake Pichola. We did take some time to find our way to the Haveli as its inside chandpole and since there was some road work going on and there was no car access to the Hotel and you have to indeed carry your luggage all the way to the Hotel from the car park which was across the walk way bridge. At the check-in we did request the attendant for cancellation of one of the rooms (we had booked 5 rooms) as one of the travellers couldn't join in and the fact we had informed the same a couple of days earlier, wherein they said they would try to adjust once we are there, but at the end they said pit was manager's decision and they wont be able to cancel the room. So we had to take the keys of the room just to keep it locked in (very strange indeed). The walk way bridge is also cluttered with objects of construction all over and not maintained at all. The back entrance of the hotel is through lane of small shops with steep slop to cover. Its an heritage building and there were two type of rooms - lake and non-lake facing. The non-lake facing rooms didnt have any view at all. The lake facing rooms were decent and we found it clean. They have a small restaurant at the terrace, but the same is very small to accommodate large number of guests. We just had breakfast and the options were limited. We did try the parathas, poha and tea. Parathas were very good especially with butter. Just adjacent to restaurant they also have open sitting area facing the lake. They do have a small mandir inside the premises, a swimming pool which we didnt use and a sitting area with sofas to relax around. The Garden could be maintained a bit more as the titles were breaking away and grass needs to be chopped. They did have some rabbits too in the garden.

By far one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in India ! No wifi, electricity shut down a couple times while I was there ! Moreover, the cleaning of the room was terrible (just made the bed nothing else) and had to ask twice the reception for them to finally do it. Staff was unresponsive. Would not recommend staying there unless you like dirty rooms and having the power off ! Food was good and they had hot water.

In principle a very nice place, nicely located at the lake and close to one of the walking bridges. So you can easily walk everywhere from the hotel. Shops, restaurants and the palance were in 15min walking distance Service staff was very helpful and understanding However, the hotel infrastructure is in bad shape. They extend the hotel, so there is a construction site just next door. they also add an elevator in November 23, so another source for noise. Rooms had technical issues like instable Wifi and noise level from the construction, so we swapped our room. The new room had a bad smell from chemicals, so we swapped again. All rooms were noise from nearby temples, so you get a wake up call every morning. Bathroom required rennovation, you better dont have a closer look. Rooms would benefit from refurbishment as well. Roof top is a breakfast place, basic Indian breakfast but with freshly produced omlettes. The view from the roof top is brilliant, however, it totally lacks charm unfortunately. All in all it could be a very nice hotel, but at present there are too many obstacles and infrastructure is in to bad condition
